Nevada City Ballet Academy
Home
About the Director Krista Pagan has been teaching Ballet since 1998. She opened Nevada City Ballet Academy in the summer of 2005 with the goal of having a studio committed to providing careful, correct ballet training to her students. In a safe, non-competitive and comfortable atmosphere, she is able to pass on her love of ballet in a gentle and caring manner. She believes each student deserves encouragement and respect as they discover their own strengths and develop into strong, beautiful and confident dancers. With small class sizes, she is able to give the needed personal attention to each of her students, allowing them to progress as individual dancers. LocationNevada City Ballet Academy is located in Nevada City behind SPD. It is within walking distance from Nevada City Schools and a Nevada Union High School bus stop, making it easy for students to come to classes straight from school, which is ideal for working parents.Classes All classes consist of barre and centre work, across the floor combinations, and choreography. Proper technique, flexibility and strength are emphasized. Students will also learn proper terminology, correct body placement, and expressive movement. Respect for others and appreciation of Ballet as an art form, as well as proper class etiquette are also taught and expected. A dress code is enforced, which promotes this value of respect in the classroom. Small class size allows for personal attention to be given to each dancer, and their progress to be monitored. Careful corrections are given to students individually, allowing them to reach their full potential as dancers. Performances Students will be given opportunities to perform throughout the year, including the Starz Show, which is a community dance show that takes place in early spring. We also hold an annual studio recital in June, showcasing what the dancers have learned throughout the year.Observers Parents and other observers are always welcome to come and watch classes in the waiting area. Potential students are offered a free trial class. You may call ahead of time to schedule your free trial, or simply drop by. For more information, please call 265-6892, or you may e-mail me.
